Understanding the Brief Origin of the Chinese Alphabet
The alphabet is the key to human kind. Without it, nations could not
function well. It is a basic form of communication that can defy both
time and space. Wherever civilization exists, there is a form of
alphabet that has made its history possible. With alphabet, many forms
of literary works have been emphasized. Because of the vast islands of
the world, languages and alphabets differ greatly from each other. Among
the most widely used alphabets in the world is the Chinese alphabet.

China being one of oldest cradles of civilization has become the world’s
most populated country. The Chinese people are among the many immigrants
in various countries of the world. Its widespread culture has captured
the hearts of many. For this reason, its language and alphabet has been
the most sought after communication mediums. Among many countries
worldwide, foreigners study the Chinese alphabet. In fact, this
interesting genre has left its learners in great awe and appreciation.
Therefore, Chinese is gaining its importance to many nations. How did
the Chinese alphabet came about? Where did it begin? Of course, the
roots of the Chinese alphabet began in mainland China. Although Chinese
is the only language that does not have an alphabetical system, it still
has a great history behind it. Its system usually makes use of
pictographic characters. Throughout China’s history, most of its
communication system greatly depended on symbols and characters. These
characters were pronounced as monosyllabic or polysyllabic. Therefore,
it is safe to say that the Chinese writing system makes use of a range
of symbols that correspond to directly to entire words. Chinese can be
categorized on the Sino-Tibetan group of languages. This speech
community extends from the northeastern part of India all the way to
China. The Chinese writing and sp eaking
system is not solely made up of a single language. Although
incomprehensible, the language can be traced back to the Romance
language. The immensity of the Chinese characters and symbols that are
in use today goes back to over three thousand five hundred years ago.The
course of time has produced about some alterations in their shapes,
which have stirred towards further generalization. Despite these
changes, their basic configuration as well as its meanings remains the
same.
As China has strongly evolved into a developed nation, its system of
communication has also revolutionized. It has been noted in history that
Chinese is an array of symbols. Today, most of these symbols have been
modified into other forms so that the number of dialect in China can
easily understand it.
Chinese words are more like a comparison of building blocks. Some words
that are commonly used in society have been cut down by removing some
strokes or lines in order to make them even more comprehensible.
Moreover, some of the simpler characters have been reduced into one
character. With Mandarin as its standard dialect, the efforts of the
nation to promote these changes have been slowly internalized on the
minds of China’s people. |
